Celebrating 30 Years of JM Electrical

Over the years, JM Electrical has established itself as Boston’s leader in advanced automated building system installations. Starting with just two employees in 1985, the company has grown considerably to more than 140 staff and electricians today.

Founded 30 years ago by President Paul Guarracino, JM Electrical is now a second generation family business that continues to demonstrate significant growth. Paul’s three sons—Matthew, John and Andrew—all work for the company, which has evolved from installing basic heating and cooling systems to the installation of complex building automation systems, fire alarms, card access security systems, instrumentation, retrofits and renewable energy systems.

Here’s a closer look at the impact of JM Electrical’s 30 years of service on the Greater Boston area:

Paul’s three sons—Matthew, John and Andrew—all work for the company, which has evolved from installing basic heating and cooling systems to the installation of complex building automation systems, fire alarms, card access security systems, instrumentation, retrofits and renewable energy systems.

Here’s a closer look at the impact of JM Electrical’s 30 years of service on the Greater Boston area:

Establishing its presence in the electrical universe early on, JM has been a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) since 1987—joining just two years after being founded. NECA members are leaders in the electrical industry, setting industry standards and utilizing new, state-of the-art technology. Also, further establishing its quality management practices, the company has been ISO 9001 Certified since 2003 to maintain an efficient work environment as well as excellent customer relations. JM is the only electrical controls contractor in the area to attain ISO 9001 certification, which means that we manage our business in accordance with stringent guidelines.

With so many years of service, it is safe to say that JM Electrical has many notable accomplishments, largely due to its committed team.  Throughout its 30 years, JM’s staff has performed a total of more than three million labor hours, and never missed a scheduled completion date for any of its 13,000+ jobs completed during its time in business. With such a dedicated, practiced team, it is no surprise that JM Electrical has a customer satisfaction rate of nearly 98%.

Some of the high-profile projects that JM Electrical has completed over the years include the Boston Convention Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Logan Airport Security, Harvard University, Liberty Hotel, and many more. JM Electrical has completed numerous building automation, fire alarm, security and renewable energy system installations in the Greater Boston area, and continues to take on jobs in an array of sectors including commercial infrastructure, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, and financial services.

This year alone, JM Electrical has worked on prominent developments including the Boston Bruins’ Warrior Ice Arena and New Balance’s Global flagship store at Boston Landing, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Millennium Tower, to name a few.  At Warrior Ice Arena, JM installed power and control wiring for the ice rink’s refrigeration system. JM also worked with Shawmut Construction to create a cutting-edge retail environment at New Balance’s Global flagship store. And at both PwC and Millennium Tower, JM installed state-of-the-art building automation systems, improving the buildings’ energy efficiency and working environment.

With profound growth over the years, JM has recently invested in a new headquarters. In 2018, the company will be moving from its current site at six Kimball Lane in Lynnfield to 471 Broadway, a larger building also located in Lynnfield—this will mark the first time JM will own its own office building. The short move denotes the family business’ deep roots in the town of Lynnfield, with many of the Guarracinos—including President and Founder Paul Guarracino, Business Development Manager Matthew Guarracino, and Project Manager John Guarracino—living and working in the same town for the entirety of the company’s existence.

As JM Electrical completes its 30th year in business, it is clear that the business will continue its upward trend of growth and success. The company has been built on the inherent value of maintaining excellent customer relationships and providing an interactive environment in which its employees can thrive. This is why many of JM’s employees have been with the company for a decade or more—and we are very thankful for all of our hardworking employees at JM, as none of our milestones would have been made possible without them. With the Guarracino’s dedication to family, the town of Lynnfield, and its employees, customers and vendors, there are greater milestones ahead for JM Electrical as the next generation makes strides in Greater Boston, New England and beyond.
